Ukrainian company Unwave has unveiled the “Rebodron” — a drone platform with an integrated electronic warfare system capable of autonomously flying to a target area and jamming the control channels of enemy quadcopters. Company representatives announced this during the Unwave 3rd Anniversary Demo Day, where the development was first demonstrated to journalists.
According to the developer, the system features an integrated EW suite operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency bands — the bands used by most civilian quadcopters, including DJI Mavic drones that the Russian army employs extensively for reconnaissance and fire correction.
The system was developed at the direct request of one of the Defense Forces units that was being troubled by Russian “Mavics.” Signal suppression is achieved via two transmitter modules rated at 50 W each. The EW system is powered by a dedicated battery pack completely isolated from the drone’s power electronics, preventing mutual interference. Flight endurance is up to 40 minutes, and the onboard EW module can operate continuously for the same duration.
According to the developer, the drone can operate in patrol mode or as a stationary aerial platform. Upon reaching the target area, the copter hovers, and optical stabilization holds its position with a drift of up to 10 meters even in the absence of a GPS signal. The operator can switch the EW system on and off during flight — allowing the drone to approach a target undetected and activate jamming precisely, right alongside the enemy drone.
Key electronic components — the flight controller, power distribution boards, motor speed controllers, EW modules, power supplies, and batteries — are of Ukrainian manufacture. The antennas were developed independently by the Unwave team. The main imported components remaining in the drone are the motors and camera.
The vast majority of Ukrainian countermeasures against Mavic drones are ground-based or man-portable: trench-mounted, vehicle-mounted, dome, or backpack systems. The Brave1 cluster, for instance, reported on the mobile Algiz AM, which jams Mavic drones and is already in use by Defense Forces units. BlueBird Tech offers the “Hrets” product line — ranging from the compact man-portable “Hrets 3M” to the dedicated anti-Mavic “Hrets 4MTs.” Startup Contra Drone recently unveiled a mobile Anti-Mavic unit mounted on a telescopic mast.
