The number of residents of the Defence City special legal regime has grown to 45 Ukrainian weapons manufacturers. This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. At the end of May, the regime united 31 enterprises — in just under two months, 14 new companies joined it.
The combined qualified revenue of all 45 residents from weapons sales has exceeded UAH 93.5 billion. For comparison: at the end of May, this figure stood at nearly UAH 89.7 billion.
Among the Defence City residents are manufacturers of drones, missiles, and other defense products.
“The scaling of Defence City marks a transition to a systemic development model for Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex. Already 45 manufacturers have been given the conditions for investment, capacity protection, and production expansion. Our task is to grow this ecosystem and turn state support into more Ukrainian weapons for the Defense Forces,” said Hanna Hvozdziar, adviser to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Defence City is a special legal regime of state support for defense-industrial complex enterprises, which came into effect on January 5, 2026, following the Cabinet of Ministers’ adoption of a corresponding package of decisions. According to then-Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the government defined the rules for residents’ operations, the procedures for relocating and protecting manufacturing facilities, as well as mechanisms for oversight, financing, and coordination with authorities.
