DefPulse is an independent Ukrainian media outlet covering defense technologies and miltech. As of the update date of this policy, the publication does not hold a license and is not registered as a media entity. This document is a voluntary commitment by the editorial team to our readers, authors, and partners. We are publishing it so that anyone can evaluate our work based on clear rules.
Principles
Accuracy
Every factual claim has a source. If we cannot verify it, we state so directly.
Separation of Facts from Opinions
Facts are presented in “News,” “Articles,” “Guides,” and “TECH OF THE DAY.” Opinions and author perspectives appear exclusively under “Opinions” with appropriate labeling.
Transparency
Readers can see information sources and a label if the content is sponsored or promotional.
Safety Over Speed
We do not publish anything that could harm military personnel, civilians, or defense capability, even if it is an exclusive.
Accountability
We correct mistakes openly, without silent deletions.
Independence
Advertisers, manufacturers, and sources do not influence editorial decisions.
Respect for Others’ Work
We cite with attribution and do not copy materials, photos, or videos from other publications without permission.
Formats and Requirements
Articles
Articles are the primary format for in-depth analysis on DefPulse. They explain a technology, trend, or event in context: what happened, why it matters, and what implications it may have. The author relies on primary sources (documents, specifications, official statements) and presents positions from different sides where contradictions exist.
Guides
Guides serve as practical handbooks and reference materials that readers can return to. They explain complex topics step-by-step, from basic concepts to practical advice. Each guide displays its last fact-check date and is updated as needed. Materials do not contain instructions that could compromise safety or violate current restrictions.
Opinions
“Opinions” is a column for author commentary, where writers openly state and argue their personal stance. The piece is marked with an “Opinion” tag so readers do not confuse subjective assessments with editorial reporting. Factual claims within these texts undergo the same verification process as other formats, while responsibility for the conclusions rests with the author. The author’s view does not necessarily reflect the position of the editorial board.
News
News reports events quickly and accurately: what happened, where, when, and who was involved. Texts remain neutral, free of evaluative language or assumptions, and unconfirmed information is marked as unverified. Every news item requires at least one reliable source, while sensitive topics require two independent sources.
TECH OF THE DAY
“TECH OF THE DAY” is a concise format highlighting a single device, system, or development from the defense sector. A new TECH OF THE DAY is featured every weekday. The piece includes the name, manufacturer, key specifications with source links, and the current status of the solution (concept, prototype, serial production, deployed in service). Specifications claimed by manufacturers are identified as statements rather than established facts; however, codified items carry fixed specifications for all.
Fact-Checking and Error Correction Rules
Every factual statement in DefPulse materials must rely on a source, and authors include a list of sources used. We prioritize primary sources: manufacturer documentation, official specifications and statements, and verified speech recordings. News on sensitive topics requires two independent sources, while unconfirmed information from social media and instant messaging apps is labeled as “unverified.” Photos and videos undergo verification for date, location, and authenticity; questionable materials are not published. Claims by manufacturers and advertisers are marked as statements by the involved party rather than established facts, and anonymous sources may require confirmation from a second source or supporting documentation. Authors are responsible for initial verification, while editors review key facts, quotes, names, and figures.
Error Correction Policy
DefPulse corrects errors openly: technical oversights, such as typos or broken links, are fixed without special notice, whereas factual errors are corrected with an appended note containing the date and description of the change. We do not delete materials silently; if an article is built on unreliable data, we retract or completely rewrite it and publish an explanation. Errors can be reported to editors@defpulse.news, and we will review the submission.
Interaction with Advertisers
All advertising and partner content on DefPulse is placed exclusively in the BrandPulse section. Every piece of sponsored content carries clear banner labeling at the beginning of the article and in social media teasers, ensuring readers can easily distinguish it from editorial content. Advertisers do not influence topic selection, conclusions, or the tone of our editorial coverage, and the editorial team reserves the right to reject advertising that conflicts with our principles, the law, or public safety.
Detailed terms, formats, and contact details for partnerships can be found on our Advertising and Partnership page.
