The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has published on the War&Sanctions portal a new batch of data on the production cooperation of Russia’s military-industrial complex. The subject of the disclosure is the multirole fighter Su-35S.
In the “Components in Weapons” section, intelligence officers published an interactive 3D model of the aircraft and data on 79 enterprises involved in its production. These include developers and manufacturers of engines and fuel systems, control systems, communications, guidance and electronic warfare systems, as well as the main aviation missiles employed with the Su-35S as a carrier.
It emerged that almost a third of the enterprises on the list have still not been placed under restrictions by any country of the sanctions coalition. Among them, HUR specifically named:
- PJSC “Aviation Corporation Rubin” — a supplier of aviation braked and non-braked wheels;
- PJSC “Gidroavtomatika” — a manufacturer of AU46-05 fuel system control units for the aircraft;
- JSC “Research Institute Oktava” — carried out research and development work as part of the Su-35S development programme.
The absence of these companies from sanctions lists, in the intelligence agency’s view, allows them to retain access to foreign equipment and technologies and to make unimpeded use of international banking services.
According to HUR, the adversary employs the Su-35S primarily to provide cover for strike groups of Su-34 frontline bombers, ground forces and facilities, as well as to intercept Ukrainian UAVs and cruise missiles and to counter the air defence assets of the Defence Forces.
