Ukrainian company Rebel Group, a member of the NAUDI association, introduced two vehicle-mounted EW systems: OPERA-OX FR and OPERA-OX BOX. They are designed to suppress enemy drone control channels at a distance of at least 70 meters.
Rebel Group specializes in EW and SIGINT systems. Its lineup already includes the mobile REB-OX complexes, the FARA directional systems, and the SCAN-OX and OX-Point SIGINT systems. Both new complexes are an extension of this family, carrying factory designations REB-OX v3.0 MAX FR and MAX BOX.
A range of 70 meters is modest, so the systems are intended to protect the vehicle itself or a position.
OPERA-OX FR
The system is built on a modular design, allowing the composition and operating frequency bands to be tailored to a unit’s needs. Jamming modules are mounted on a protective frame using magnetic attachments. They can be placed directly on metal elements of the cab or body. The frame also protects the equipment from mechanical damage. The configuration accommodates up to 14 modules.
OPERA-OX BOX
The second system is designed as an enclosed cargo box mounted on the roof. According to the developers’ concept, this makes the EW system less conspicuous: from the side it resembles an ordinary roof box and does not reveal any specialized equipment. Depending on the configuration, it holds up to 13 modules. The suppression range is the same as that of the FR.
Specifications
- Operating frequencies are selected to customer requirements within four bands: 300–1050, 2100–2900, 5150–5250, and 5725–5850 MHz.
- Quadrifilar-type antennas, designed and manufactured in-house by the company.
- Battery packs provide at least 90 minutes of continuous operation.
- Package includes: a remote control unit, a mains charger, and cables. The company provides a 12-month warranty across the entire product line.
- According to the manufacturer’s website, the devices are codified to NATO standards and have undergone testing at Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff proving grounds.
The new systems enter niches where competition already exists. For comparison, last year ODIN unveiled the ODIN-D TURBO 2.0: 13 modules at 80 W each, total output of 1,040 W, and up to 1.5 hours of autonomous operation.
Rebel Group is banking on configuration flexibility, a broad set of frequency bands including 5 GHz, and the lower-profile BOX enclosure. The market itself is large: at the start of the year, more than 140 Ukrainian companies were known to produce EW systems.
