Ukraine continues to receive American intelligence, but warnings about Russian ballistic attacks are arriving intermittently. At the same time, restrictions on the Starlink satellite communications used by Ukrainian forces remain in place.
This was reported by Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to Beskrestnov, Ukrainians are dying due to untimely delivery of information. He claims that warnings about certain missile strikes arrived only a minute before impact, and sometimes the information did not arrive in time at all.
“Intelligence information continues to come in, and the problem lies exclusively in the air-raid warning component,” the adviser explained. He also noted that Ukraine uses its own radar data, which allows it to partially warn of threats.
President Zelensky had previously stated that intelligence sharing resumed after a three-day pause. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied that Washington had suspended the transmission of information. The White House also stated that there had been no changes in intelligence cooperation between the two countries.
Starlink Restrictions Affect Drone Operations
Another issue concerns the Starlink satellite communications and the military Starshield system. According to media reports, the speed of mobile platforms that remain connected to the network has been limited to approximately 160 km/h.
In Serhiy Flash’s opinion, this may complicate the use of drones to intercept Russian aerial targets and carry out strike missions at medium ranges. Starlink also provides communications between military units and is used to control unmanned systems.
SpaceX owner Elon Musk has stated that access to Starshield is controlled by the US government. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump denied any personal involvement in the restrictions.
Beskrestnov suggested that the simultaneous problems with missile strike warnings and satellite communications may be a means of pressure on Kyiv during negotiations with Russia.
“A significant portion of the regular Shaheds are being shot down by our helicopters. Helicopters fly faster than 160 km/h. The Starshield speed restriction has affected an important channel for transmitting information to combat helicopters. It is very hard for me to accept that one sudden move by our partners destroys a significant part of our defense. I believe this is a misunderstanding and that it will be resolved,” Serhiy stated.
