Modern war has proven: the one who wins is not the one who has more tanks or aviation, but the one who has precise and smart weapons. High-precision systems make it possible to strike at the enemy not by «area» but with aim, with minimal losses for peaceful inhabitants and maximum harm for military targets. This includes both anti-aircraft missile complexes, and long-range missile systems, and even a modern artillery shell.
Anti-Aircraft Systems of Air Defense
The defense of the sky is the first and critical line. Ukraine received various anti-aircraft missile complexes into its armament, which protect cities from aviation and missiles. Among them, a special place is occupied by the Patriot SAM system. One Patriot battery is capable of covering a large territory, and Patriot batteries deployed in various regions create a dense shield from strikes.
Besides Patriot, other systems work in the ranks: the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile complex, capable of effectively destroying cruise missiles, and the European SAMP/T, which also proved its effectiveness. Each complex has its own niche, but together they create a multi-layered defense that significantly complicates the enemy’s task.
Long-Range Missile Complexes
A separate story is systems that can hit the enemy far beyond the front line. The most well-known example is HIMARS. This is a mobile launcher, whose missile is high-precision and flies for tens of kilometers. Thanks to it, depots, staffs, and bridges were destroyed, without which the enemy could not effectively fight.
In Ukrainian conditions, the domestic Vilkha-M also works successfully — a modernized system with high-precision munitions. It showed that Ukrainian weapons are also capable of competing with the best samples of the world.
No less important a reserve is ATACMS. These long-range missiles are launched from HIMARS ATACMS installations and can hit targets at a distance of over 150–300 km. Separately, it is worth mentioning the MGM-140 ATACMS modification and its index MGM140 — it is precisely these missiles that give the possibility to strike at the rear bases of the enemy, where other weapons simply cannot reach.
Artillery of the New Generation
Despite the development of missile technologies, artillery remains the «god of war». But a modern artillery shell substantially differs from Soviet samples. If earlier they fired with tens and hundreds of shells over an area, then today a few precise shots are enough to hit the target. Such shells can be corrected by GPS or laser guidance, which makes them precise at tens of kilometers.

High-precision weapons are not just equipment but a real advantage on the battlefield. Anti-aircraft missile complexes of the Patriot, NASAMS, or SAMP/T type cover the sky. The missile systems HIMARS, Vilkha-M, and ATACMS make it possible to strike far into the rear. And a modern artillery shell makes ordinary artillery many times more effective.
This combination of various technologies creates a new level of war, where it is decided not by quantity but by precision. This is precisely how Ukraine gradually receives the ability to equal the enemy and even surpass it in key moments.
