Ukrainian manufacturer Ukrainian Armor is considering cooperation with German defense companies to produce new Saigak and Varta 3 combat vehicles.

This was stated by the company’s CEO Vladislav Belbas at the MSPO 2026 exhibition in Poland. According to Belbas, the company wants to establish cooperation with German industry: in particular, it is considering a potential partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

Varta 3, by the way, is already built on the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz Unimog, while Saigak is the company’s first attempt to enter the segment of lightly armored vehicles. One of the features of Saigak was the active protection system, which, according to the manufacturer, is capable of countering up to 20 FPV drones. Varta 3, on the other hand, received ballistic and mine protection and can protect the crew from the explosion of a charge weighing up to 8 kg in TNT equivalent.

At the same time, negotiations with the German government regarding future orders have not yet been held. Belbas criticized the approach of some European companies to industrial cooperation: in negotiations, they primarily evaluate the return investment, while “in Ukraine they invest for the sake of survival.”
